Low Vision :

Low vision is a condition in which vision cannot be corrected by traditional glasses,contact lenses, surgery or medicine. Low vision is typically caused by an underlying eye disease such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetes or congenital conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa, Best disease or Stargardt disease.
Patients with low vision often struggle with reading, writing, watching TV, recognizing fine details and facial features and general tasks of daily living. Mobility is often difficult for low vision patients.
A low vision examination involves the doctor working one-on-one with the patient to provide solutions for specific goals such as improved reading or writing using low vision aids. These low vision aids include products such as hand-held magnifiers, stand magnifiers, clip-on systems, telescopes or digital devices including hand-held and desk top versions. We also explore different use of tasks lights and colored filters to improve the patient’s contrast sensitivity.
