Advanced Dry Eye Treatments
at Virdi Eye Clinic
Our experienced optometrists — your local dry eye experts — are proud to offer the latest technology in dry eye management: Ophthalmic Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Radiofrequency (RF) therapy using the Envision by InMode platform.
These advanced, non-invasive treatments target the root causes of chronic dry eye, meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), and eyelid inflammation — helping restore lasting comfort and clarity to your vision.
Traditional treatments like eye drops or warm compresses often provide only temporary relief. At Virdi Eye Clinic, we use Envision's IPL and RF technologies to treat the underlying cause of dryness — gland blockage and inflammation — for longer-lasting results.

"86% of patients with dry eye also have meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD)."
Dry eye disease often develops when the meibomian glands — tiny oil glands in your eyelids — become blocked or inflamed. Without healthy oil secretion, tears evaporate too quickly, leading to dryness, irritation, redness, and a gritty sensation.
Common Dry Eye
Symptoms
- Fluctuation in vision
- Redness & burning sensation
- Itching or heaviness
- Light sensitivity
- Excessive tearing
- Gritty or sandy sensation
- Extended hours on computer, phone, or tablet
- Contact lens wear
- Autoimmune disease
- Medications
- Wind, air conditioning, or fans while sleeping

The Tear Film — 3 Layers
Outer Layer
Oily layer produced by the meibomian glands. Reduces evaporation of tears.
Middle Layer
Watery layer produced by the lacrimal gland. Washes away debris and allergens.
Inner Layer
Mucous layer produced by conjunctival goblet cells. Holds tears on the cornea.
Precision Testing for
Accurate Diagnosis
TearLab Osmolarity
Measures the osmolarity (saltiness) of your tears to objectively detect dry eye disease.
InflammaDry
Tests your tears for the presence of MMP-9, a key inflammatory marker associated with dry eye.
LipiScan Imaging
Photo assessment of your meibomian glands to help determine the right treatment plan.
Intense Pulsed Light
(IPL) Therapy
Envision by InMode – advanced light-based technology for ocular surface health.
Ophthalmic IPL therapy uses gentle bursts of light to target inflammation and abnormal blood vessels around the eyelids and cheeks. After IPL, your optometrist may gently express the glands to help release natural oils and promote healthy tear production.
- Reduce redness and inflammation caused by ocular rosacea
- Improve meibomian gland function
- Enhance tear film stability
- Relieve dryness and irritation

Radiofrequency
(RF) Therapy
Soothing thermal energy. Lasting results.
Radiofrequency therapy uses gentle, controlled heat to warm the skin and deeper tissues around the eyes and eyelids.
Many patients describe RF treatment as a relaxing, warm facial massage. Each session typically lasts 15–20 minutes, and there's no downtime — you can resume your normal activities immediately.
- Melts and clears blockages in the meibomian glands
- Stimulates collagen production, improving skin tone and firmness
- Reduces eyelid inflammation
- Enhances natural oil flow for more stable tears
LipiFlow®
Thermal Pulsation
Treats the cause — not just the symptoms.
LipiFlow® applies precisely controlled heat and pressure to unblock obstructed meibomian glands, restoring natural oil flow for long-lasting tear stability. A recent study found that 86% of dry eye patients also had meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD).
- Treats the root cause of evaporative dry eye
- Decreases risk of further gland atrophy
- Restores healthy tear film production
- In-office, 12-minute procedure per eye

BlephEx®
Eyelid Treatment
Like a dental cleaning — for your eyelids.
BlephEx removes debris and biofilm along the lid margin — the main cause of inflammatory lid disease — and improves overall eyelid health. May be recommended prior to cataract or LASIK surgery to reduce infection risk and improve visual outcomes.
- Removes inflammatory debris from lid margins
- Improves eyelid health and hygiene
- Recommended every 4–6 months
- Reduces surgical infection risk
Why Combine
IPL and RF?
The combination of IPL and RF offers a powerful, comprehensive approach to dry eye management — addressing both the surface and underlying causes of chronic dryness.
IPL
Targets Surface Inflammation
Targets inflammation and vascular issues on the skin's surface, reducing redness and improving gland access.
RF
Treats Deep Gland Blockages
Deeply warms the meibomian glands to clear blockages and improve oil flow for more stable, lasting tears.
Safe, Comfortable &
Expert-Performed.
All IPL and RF treatments at Virdi Eye Clinic are performed exclusively by our trained optometrists, who specialize in the diagnosis and management of dry eye disease.
We use FDA-approved Envision by InMode technology designed specifically for the sensitive periocular area.
Protective eye shields are always used during treatment. Patients often notice gradual improvement in dryness, comfort, and redness over the treatment series.
Prescription Eye Drop Therapy
In addition to in-office procedures, prescription medications — including Restasis®, Xiidra®, and Cequa® — may be prescribed to increase natural tear production and reduce inflammation.
